Understanding Your Settings

On the website, Settings has three tabs: Children & Devices, Alerts & Notifications, and Account. Every change saves as you make it. There is no Save button: each setting shows Saving… and then Saved next to it, and if a change can't be saved, the setting goes back to what is saved and tells you.

Children & Devices

  • At the top, one line counts your devices that are working or still being set up, and how many have reported in the last 3 days, for example 2 devices · 2 reporting. A device that hasn't been heard from for 3 days is not counted. It is kept under Show N inactive below its child.

  • Each child has one Add device button. You choose the kind of device, then which child it is for. Add another child is at the bottom. You'll confirm you are the child's parent or legal guardian.

  • Each device shows what it is, whether it is working, and when it was last heard from. Use Resume setup on a device that isn't finished, or Show setup code to see its code again. The bin icon removes a device.

  • Same phone listed twice? Merge puts two rows that are really one phone onto one card. Separate undoes it. Merging tells ParentSEE the rows are one device, so its activity and screen time are counted together, and removing a merged device turns off every connection on it.

  • How ParentSEE works explains what each kind of device shows. You can close it.
  • Alerts & Notifications

  • How alerting works opens a short explanation. Click it to open or close.

  • Critical Safety Alert Emails emails you straight away about self-harm and suicide alerts. ParentSEE asks you to confirm before turning it off. These emails always go to your account email.

  • Website content: alert categories chooses which kinds of sites raise an alert. Self-harm and Suicide are always on.

  • Alert delivery turns emails and push notifications about flagged content on or off with its switch, then chooses Email + Push, Email only, or Push only. Send alert emails to sends alert, milestone, weekly digest and trial reminder emails to another address. Leave it blank to use your account email.

  • Weekly Digest and Milestone Notifications each have one switch. Both are emails.

  • Overnight Quiet Hours has a switch, a Start and End time such as 10:00 PM to 8:00 AM, and your Time zone. During quiet hours, emails and pushes about flagged content, and the offline push, are not sent. Every alert still appears on your Alerts page. Self-harm and suicide alerts, and the always-on device notices below, still reach you.

  • Offline Detection turns on a push for a child who has an iPhone or Android phone, when no website activity has arrived from them for 2 hours in the daytime, after some earlier that day. Some notices about a child's device are always on and arrive at any hour: an email and a push if the ParentSEE app on an Android phone stops checking in for 12 hours while the phone is still online; an email if we hear nothing at all from a child's device for 24 hours; an email if Private DNS is turned off or changed on a child's phone; and a push if monitoring is paused on a child's phone.
  • Account

  • Profile shows your name, email, and when you joined. To change your name or email, email support@parentsee.com.

  • Sign out everywhere signs you out of ParentSEE on every phone, tablet and browser, including the one you are using. Your children's devices keep reporting as usual. Your phones stop getting ParentSEE alerts until you sign in on them again. Email alerts are not affected.

  • Billing shows your plan and status. For a card subscription it shows your next payment date and whether you renew monthly or yearly, the day it ends if you have cancelled, or the day your free trial ends and the price after it. For the App Store or Google Play, your renewal date is shown in your Apple account or Google Play. It links to where you manage your subscription: our billing portal, your Apple account, or Google Play. See How billing, trials, and cancelling work.

  • Invite a co-parent: enter their email. If they don't have a ParentSEE account yet, they'll get an invitation to create one with that address. The invitation link works for 14 days. Family members lists who you have invited, and the remove button takes their access away.

  • Child Data: Export CSV downloads a child's website activity from the last 90 days. Delete Data removes all of that child's activity, screen time, alerts and insights. The child's profile and their devices' connection to ParentSEE stay, so monitoring continues. See How to Delete Your Account and Data.

  • Delete Account permanently deletes your account and everything in it.
  • In the app

The ParentSEE app on your phone changes the same settings, with its own screens. Until the app's next update, it saves alert settings with a Save Configuration button. Its Revoke All Sessions does the same as Sign out everywhere: it signs you out on every phone, tablet and browser, your phones stop getting alerts until you sign in on them again, and your children's devices keep reporting.
