Keeping Monitoring Active on Your Child's Device

Keeping Monitoring Active on Your Child's Device

ParentSEE is designed to stay running in the background on all platforms. Here's what to know for each device type, and what to check if monitoring stops.

Android

The Private DNS setting persists across reboots, so monitoring stays active automatically. If monitoring stops, check Settings → Network & Internet → Private DNS and verify the ParentSEE hostname is still set.

Also check that Chrome's "Use secure DNS" is turned off: Chrome → Settings → Privacy and security → Use secure DNS → Off.

iPhone / iPad

The DNS profile stays active unless manually removed. If monitoring stops, check Settings → General → VPN & Device Management for the ParentSEE profile. If it's missing, the profile was removed. Re-enroll the device from your ParentSEE settings.

Mac

The DNS profile and browser settings persist across reboots. If monitoring stops, check System Settings → General → Profiles for the ParentSEE profile. Also verify that Chrome/Brave/Edge's "Use secure DNS" is still turned off.

Windows

The ParentSEE service runs in the background and starts on boot automatically. If monitoring stops, check Settings → Apps → Installed Apps to verify ParentSEE is still installed. The service should restart automatically after updates.

Chromebook

The extension runs whenever Chrome is open. If monitoring stops, click the extension icon to check the connection status. If the extension was removed, reinstall it from the Chrome Web Store and re-pair with a new code.

Automatic alerts

ParentSEE will send you an alert if a device stops sending DNS traffic for an extended period during daytime hours (configurable in Settings → Configuration → Offline Detection).
