Making Sure Monitoring Works in Your Child's Browser

Making Sure Monitoring Works in Your Child's Browser

Some browsers, like Chrome, have their own "secure DNS" setting. When it is on, the browser can look up websites without going through the Private DNS address ParentSEE set on the phone. Websites visited in that browser can then be missing from your Activity feed, even though setup was correct.

This matters on an Android phone that ParentSEE monitors through Private DNS. It takes a moment to fix.

Chrome on Android

  • On your child's phone, open Chrome, tap the three dots, then Settings

  • Tap Privacy and security, then Use secure DNS

  • Turn it off, or choose Use your current service provider
  • Other browsers

If your child uses a different browser, turn off any "secure DNS" or "private DNS" option inside that browser too.

    When to check this

If apps show up in your child's activity but websites they visit in the browser do not, this setting is the most likely cause. See also Keeping Monitoring Active on Your Child's Device.
