Why You'll See Activity When Your Child Isn't Actively Using Their Phone
If you've been watching your ParentSEE activity feed, you might notice something surprising: apps show activity even when your child isn't actively using their phone. This is completely normal.
Apps run in the background
Modern apps do a lot of work even when they're not open: push notification polling, content pre-loading, telemetry, sync services, ad SDKs, and crash reporting. A single app can generate dozens of DNS queries per hour just running in the background.
How to interpret what you see
Likely background: Small regular bursts overnight, steady low-volume activity across hours, activity during school when phones are away.
Likely active use: Long sessions with varied domains, activity during typical hours (after school, evenings), sudden bursts from a single app.
The bottom line
Some activity reflects background app behavior, not active use. This is normal for every phone. What matters is the overall pattern: which apps are used, which sites are visited, and whether anything concerning shows up in your alerts.
